  • Verizon's "Six Strikes" Anti-Piracy Measures Unveiled A document detailing Verizon's six strike anti-piracy program has been found on their web server. Set to go into effect within the next few weeks, Verizon customers will receive notifications via phone and email for their first two alerts. The next two will require you to acknowledge receipt of the alerts and provide you with a short video. Finally, your service will be throttled back to 256kbps for two days (with the option to postpone or appeal). It's worth noting that after six strikes, nothing more happens, although further infractions may result in the MPAA or RIAA obtaining your IP via subpoena. Other ISPs are expected to enact similar measures in the coming weeks, but the specifics remain unannounced. [TorrentFreak]

  • Groupon Widens Its Mobile Payments Net, Adds Groupon Payments To Its Android App To Rival Square Groupon Payments, Groupon's Square-esque mobile credit card payment service, is coming over to Android. Formerly iOS only, an update to the Groupon Merchants app now allows Android users to start using the credit-card dongle to accept credit cards in addition to other Groupon deals and services.
